Why is it called bitplanet?
Originally, the project was running under the code-names The Canvas and later PixelSands. bitplanet was later landed on for reasons that we will reveal at a future date.
Why does bitplanet not utilize [insert runes, bitmaps, etc.]?
Whilst the project was running under the code-names The Canvas and later PixelSands, bitplanet (which predates the Ordinals protocol) was deemed the final choice for reasons to be revealed at a future date.
Will bitplanet be listed on marketplaces like Magic Eden?
It can and will be, however, existing Ordinals marketplaces may not provide an ideal experience for existing or prospective bitplanet participants. Most current marketplaces track inscriptions while bitplanet fundamentally focuses more on sats and their respective metadata within the system. Although marketplaces are a great way to facilitate markets (buying and selling), they may not accurately represent or enable all the features of the protocol beyond just trading.
